So they got their way.  The Tea Party helped sweep the Dems out of Congress and have taken over with their sights on lowering the national debt.  I say that is a nobel effort and I applaud them for being passionate about politics in this country.  Now the big question is, what will they do with their new found power.  My guess is, not a whole heck of a lot because they are already breaking their “pledge to america”  right out of the gate.

They are already backtracking on their vow to trim 100 billion from the budget in their first year.  I can’t blame them for reaching this goal, what

Fighting health care reform is a lost cause.  It is just a waste of time.  Half the people in the country want it and the minority Tea Party don’t.  If they win and get it changed, they will piss off half the country and will be giving the Dems ammo for the next election.  In fact, according to the Congressional Budget Office, the bill will actually save us 143 Billion over the next ten years.  So right off the bat they are costing us money when they were sent to save our money.  Plus there is no way anything gets past the Senate and Obama so why even waste everyone’s time.  I know it is unpopular but our health care system is truly out of control, lets give it a chance to see if it will work.  If it sucks and has proven to suck over a few years, toss it and start over.

I know I sound like a broken record here but the Republicans claim they are trying to stop government waste yet they don’t even MENTION the department that waste the most tax payer dollars, the department of defense.  Obviously this is a hard thing for them to do because the moment they do it, the are perceived to be weak on national defense.  It is up to the Dems not to play this card so some real progress can be made.  At this point it isn’t a matter of who is in power, it is a matter of what the people in power can accomplish.  America needs to leave the bickering aside and come to the realization that the minor differences conservative and liberals have are nothing compared to the importance of getting America back on the right track.  It is time we started acting like adults and stopped bickering over who is right and who is wrong, right now both parties are wrong and it is time that the American people starting holding them accountable.

We need to start asking ourselves, what kind of country do we want.  Do we want to be the world cop?  Do we want to supply the rest of the world with protection while we leave our own borders unguarded?  Do we want to pay to put more people in jail than any other country in the world?  I think the majority of the people in this country don’t want these things.
